The General Assembly of the Finnish Student Sports Federation (OLL) elected a new Board for 2027, celebrated successes and planned for the futured.

Jasmin Tuominen was elected President of the Federation. Previously she has served as the Vice Chair of the Student Union of Haaga-Helia Helga.

“An election year is a very exciting time to be President of OLL. We will continue our strong advocacy work and seek to secure positive commitments in the next government programme to promote physical activity and wellbeing among students,” Tuominen says.

Julia Korhonen (Humako) and Jonas Sarkameri (Laureamko) were elected as Vice Presidents. The General Assembly elected Roosa-Marika Hytönen (Savotta) and Lari Koskinen (Metka) as new Board members.

Lobbying wins and new members

The General Assembly looked back on the work of 2025–2026. Niko Peltokangas, Acting Secretary General for the rest of the year, is pleased about how the long-term strategy of the Federation has been implemented.

“University sports have received new funding for both projects and strategic development, and through collaboration the national recommendations are being implemented even better than before. We have also gained 13 new member communities already, which allows us to reduce the membership fee for our student unions,” Peltokangas states.

In addition to the elections, the General Assembly also set out the Federation’s activities for 2027 and updated its Constitution. The main emphasis of the work, alongside election lobbying, will be on national and regional development of university sports and on improving student competitions and events.

Annual prizes for promoting student sports

At the General Assembly, OLL also presented its traditional awards to those who have made outstanding contributions to promoting student sports. This year, the OLL Trophy was awarded to the Aalto University Student Union AYY for its commitment to shared advocacy goals and active participation in the OLL’s activities. Janne Heiskanen was selected as Flame of the Year: as chair of the Sports Committee of the Student Union of LUT University, he has spread the joy of sports to the local student community.

In addition to the traditional traveling trophies, we also recognized the member organizations that participated most actively in the federation’s events—that is, those that collected the most stamps in the OLL Appro. The winners of the OLL Appro were the Student Union of Humak University of Applied Sciences and the Student Union Kamo. Congratulations to all the winners!
