Recognition and spark at OLL's anniversary party

Published: Category: News

The Finnish Student Sports Federation (OLL) celebrated its 95-year-long existence in Helsinki on 2 February. A large number of OLL’s most important interest groups, partners and alumni over the years took part in the anniversary celebrations.

At their anniversary parties, the Finnish Student Sports Federation and its predecessor, the Finnish Academic Sports Federation, have traditionally commemorated and honoured people who have played a significant role in promoting Finnish student and higher education sports and the Federation’s aims. In 2019, OLL awarded Badges of Merit and Honour to the following people:

Badge of Merit
Hanna Huumonen
Päivi Aalto-Nevalainen
Janne Pakarinen
Kaisa Larjomaa

Badge of Honour
Jukka Tirri
Hilkka Pöyhönen

In addition to the presentation of the Badges, the party was enlivened by the cheerleading performance of the team Golden Spirit Angels and the keynote speech given by Leena Paavolainen, Deputy Director of the High Performance Unit at the Finnish Olympic Committee. In their speech, Leena Paavolainen reminded us about the important role that the Finnish Student Sports Federation has played both in the field of politics and sports in past years and will continue to play, especially in the future.

The anniversary party was a great start for the year 2019 and it will encourage the OLL staff to continue their work for sports. A big thank-you to all the guests!
