Candidate for OLL’s board: Nette Rimpioja, AYY
The Board of the Finnish Student Sports Federation (OLL) for 2025 will be elected at the General Assembly held in Vantaa on 20 and 21 November. We will introduce all candidates who register before the General Assembly. The next candidate to be introduced is Nette Rimpioja.
Nette Rimpioja is a student at Aalto University School of Business, and is chair of the advocacy committee at Aalto University Student Union (AYY).
Which position are you running for at OLL, and why?
I’m running for the position of the Finnish Student Sports Federation’s vice president for next year. I have been a board member in a variety of national youth organisations for almost five years, and the most prominent position I have held is President at the Union of Local Youth Councils in Finland for the period 2022–2023. In addition to running the union, my job included managing and planning advocacy. Expert hearings in Parliament, cooperation between ministries and meetings with decision-makers are all very familiar to me.
I am looking for new challenges, and as someone who enjoys physical activity I’m particularly interested in promoting this aspect of student wellbeing.
Can you tell us up to three of your key goals for OLL’s board?
1. To increase OLL’s effectiveness and take advocacy to the 2030s
2. To invest in getting new funding and project collaborations
3. To strategically develop the federation in close collaboration with the members. To introduce a new strategy and secure and expand the current membership base
How have you promoted university sports and the Higher Education on the Move project so far, and what other skills and experience would you bring to OLL?
I have promoted sport policy as vice president and councillor in the wellbeing committee of my home municipality. This year, a new sports park and padel courts were opened in the small municipality, enabling the residents to improve their health through physical activity.
I have extensive experience in acting as a board member in national organisations, with financial management and advocacy as my areas of expertise. I’m also sure that my Nordic networks and experience in writing and assessing project applications will help the Finnish Student Sports Federation become even more effective.
I’m ready to get to work and promote student wellbeing through sports!

General Assembly: Students' functional ability is part of overall security — opportunities for physical activity must be secured
Published:The General Assembly of the Finnish Student Sports Federation (OLL) demands that the physical fitness of students is recognised as part of the overall national security and that the opportunities for higher education students to exercise are secured as part of the social structures. The lack of physical activity costs society billions every year, but its impact also extends to crisis resilience and national security.
